Photo: Shahrukh-Deepika shoot for 'Chennai Express'

Shah Rukh Khan was in the news recently for his much-hyped film “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” which has been declared a huge hit already. The film starred Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the pivotal roles.
However, what gives a glimpse of the energy of Shah Rukh is the news that rather than celebrating the success of his film he has got back to work for his upcoming film “Chennai Express” that stars Deepika Padukone. The film is being directed by Rohit Shetty.
The film is being shot in Goa where Rohit Shetty had previously shot all his films. The “Golmaal series”, “Singham” and “Bol Bachchan” has been shot in this locale and therefore in the case of “Chennai Express” there is no difference.
Deepika has an interesting look in this film unlike the other films in which she has been seen. She portrays the typical look of a South Indian village girl. A source added, “She is sporting a half saree and two long plaits. SRK on the other hand has a very casual wardrobe in the film.”
The film has a train sequence that has been touted as the most important part of the film and it binds the story together.  A scene from the sets of the films have been published which shows the train sequence being shot. It seems like a repeat of the climax, from the film, “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”.  The only difference this time around is Deepika Padukone and not Kajol. Also Deepika seems to be walking past slowly rather than running to board the train.
Also DDLJ’s train sequence was shot in EURAIL, whereas the train sequence of this film will be shot using the Indian Railways that forms the setting of this film. This sequence definitely seems like a try to recreate the magic that the pair of SRK and Kajol had done earlier.
A source from the units of this film revealed, “Shah Rukh Khan has been shooting at the Vasco junction since Saturday….Platform number 2 has been cordoned off and the shoot is taking place there. A train has also been hired. This is Deepika's first outdoor shoot for the film.” He also added talking about the sequence, “There is a resemblance, yes. But it's not an attempt to recreate the scene. This happens to be an important part of the sequence of events.”
This film is slated for a release next year.

Chennai Express: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone Bring Back ‘DDLJ’ Memories

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone on the sets of Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express'
MUMBAI: Do you remember that scene in ‘DDLJ’ when Shah Rukh Khan puts his hand out while standing on the door of a train so that Kajol could run and take his hand and climb onto the train? And not once, but twice. Do you remember sighing when she finally made it?
Well, a scene similar to this one is going to feature in Shah Rukh Khan’s next – ‘Chennai Express’ – when he is going to help reel-lover Deepika Padukone onto the train. It happens to come at a crucial junction in a sequence of events important in the film.
The sequence is being shot in Goa on Vasco Railway Station, Platform 2. Apparently, Platform 2 has been cordoned off for the shoot, and Shah Rukh Khan has been shooting there since Saturday.
A train has been hired specifically for the shoot and the platform is being made to look like Mumbai’s Kalyan station.
A month ago, Shah Rukh Khan had also shot a sequence at CST Railway Station in Mumbai, where he is shown starting his journey on Chennai Express after receiving blessings from an old woman.
A member of the crew agrees to the resemblance, but says that “it’s not an attempt to recreate the scene. This happens to be an important part of the sequence of events.”

SRK’s working Sunday for Chennai Express!

Shah Rukh Khan’s energy levels are legendary – the actor is unstoppable when it comes to his work. Sunday afternoon saw him film a scene for his next, Chennai Express, at the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus in the city with the director of the film, Rohit Shetty and minimum crew members on the station.
SRK looked fabulous as he went about filming the scene which was thronging with junior artistes paid so to make the station look busy. Being a Sunday, CST station, which otherwise is extremely busy and crowded during the week, saw a deserted look on the track that the film was shooting on, aside from the crew of course.

The scene had SRK taking an elderly lady’s blessings, presumably his screen mother in the film, by touching her feet and boarding the Chennai Express. The film traces the story of SRK’s journey from Mumbai to Chennai on the said train. The film has been on the radar prior to filming simply because all the actresses were vying for the lead role and it finally went to Deepika Padukone, who started her film career with the superstar in Om Shanti Om and did an item song with him in Billusubsequently. Chennai Express will be her second film with SRK.
Shah Rukh’s big Diwali film this year is the Yash Chopra directed Jab Tak Hai Jaan which releases on 13th November. Needless to add, it is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, given it has SRK and Katrina Kaif paired opposite each other for the first time. There is even more interest in the film as it is 80-year-old Chopra’s last film as director.
In between tweeting about the film’s songs and other trivia pertaining to the film on his handle, @iamsrk, the actor has been shooting simultaneously for his other films in Mumbai.

SRK to romance Kajol, Anushka and Rani in Chennai Express

Back in June, we reported that Deepika Padukone is set to act opposite Shah Rukh Khan in director Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express.

It will be her second film with SRK since Om Shanti Om (2007).

Now, if things go as per plan, Shah Rukh might be romancing three other actors, all of whom have been paired with him on-screen in the past — Kajol, Anushka Sharma and Rani Mukerji .

“The storyline requires three more female actors besides Deepika to play SRK’s girlfriends in special appearances. So they have decided to rope in Kajol, Anushka and Rani, since they have already worked with him in the past. It will help build excitement about the film,” says an insider.

SRK’s association with Kajol goes as far back as Baazigar (1993), and the two last worked together in My Name Is Khan (2010). Rani acted for the first time with him in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Anushka has, of course, worked with him in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and will now be seen in Yash Chopra’s upcoming Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Right now, things are being finalised between the filmmakers and the three actors. Since the shoot of Chennai Express has just begun, they aren’t in a hurry,” says the insider. “It’s unlikely that the makers would comment on it now as everything is being kept under wraps. But if all goes well, Kajol, Rani and Anushka would shoot their part within a couple of months.”
So, just as we thought, when we contacted Shetty — who incidentally shot for the film till 4 am on Sunday — he said, “We’ve just started shooting. So, nothing is finalised. At the moment, it’s not right for me to comment.”
We also sent a text to Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures (the co-producers), but didn’t get a response.

Chennai Express went on the floors on September 25 at Yash Raj Studios. “After wrapping up the portions at YRF, we will be moving to Mehboob Studios, Bandra, where a major part of the film will be shot,” says the insider.

It seems SRK is keen to wrap up a big portion of the film before he starts working on Farah Khan’s Happy New Year early
next year.

Sathyaraj will play Deepika Padukone’s dad in Shah Rukh Khan flick

Shahrukh Khan is all set to launch his film Chennai Express, which has been in the news for a while now.
To be directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie will have SRK teaming up with his Om Shanthi Om co-star Deepika Padukone.
Rohit has gone on record to say that the film will be a commercial romantic entertainer about a man (Shahrukh) travelling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by the Chennai Express and the events that take place on the journey.
While SRK will not be playing a south Indian character, the film will feature several characters from the South, the director adds.
Now the buzz is that veteran Sathyaraj, who received critical acclaim for his eccentric role as ‘Virus’ in Shankar’s Nanban, the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots, has been approached to essay Deepika’s dad in the movie.
Sources say that Sathyaraj will be seen as a don in Chennai Express, a portion of which will be shot in Chennai and other places down south.
A close aide to Sathyaraj confirmed to DC that talks are on with the ace actor for the role while the finer details are being worked out. “In all probability, Sathyaraj sir will sign on the dotted line soon,” revealed the source.

Chennai Express to be shot

There’ll be an action film with Ajay Devgn before Rohit Shetty partners with Karan Johar.
"Shah Rukh (Khan) and I met and decided to do a film together. Chennai Express just happened, but once the news was out, there was so much hype surrounding it. It’s just one film with Shah Rukh after which I will do an action film with Ajay (Devgan) that could be Singham 2 or something else. We are still working on the script,” says Rohit Shetty
The SRK starrer is a journey movie that starts on a train. But it is unlikely to be shot in Chennai. Rohit however plans shoot down South, and once Bol Bachchan releases on July 9, he will go on a reccy to finalise the locations. The film will roll in October.
“Chennai Express has a huge ensemble cast, and I will rope in actors from the South film industry. That’ll be something new for Hindi film audiences. Shah Rukh and I will meet after the IPL and finalise the female lead,” he says.
After the Ajay punch’em dhamaka, Rohit will get cracking on a Dharma production. Karan Johar and he joined hands recently and Rohit promises a hardcrore masala movie. Kajol has been an integral part of Karan’s banner but Ajay has done only one horror film for him, Kaal (2005).
Can Rohit pull off a casting coup by roping in Ajay and Kajol for this Dharma co-production? He smiles, “You never know, anything is possible. But it is early days yet; I have to wrap up two movies before I start work on this one.”
Rohit played himself in a special appearance in Ekta Kapoor’s sequel Kya Super Kool Hain Hum, with Tusshar Kapoor, a struggling actor in the film, trying to woo him at a party with a take-off on his mute Lucky from the Golmaal series. “It was strange to see a character you’ve created turn up in another film to raise a few laughs. For me, facing the camera was no big deal because I just had to be Rohit Shetty. It was nothing different from the TV shows I have come on,” he points out.
About the status quo of Golmaal 4, he says, “It could take a couple of years. We haven’t come up with the right script yet. I’d rather wait for a worthy successor, meanwhile, there’s Bol Bachchan.”
