First Look: Ready Steady Po for Chennai Express!

The wait is finally over for all Shah Rukh Khan fans and how. Not one, not two, but the makers of the Rohit Shetty's much talked about film Chennai Express has unveiled 3 brand new posters of the film as the the New Year's gift for all the SRK Fans worldwide.

Chennai Express has Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone playing the lead in the film. South Indian actor Sathyaraj also makes his first ever Bollywood debut in the film as Deepika's father. The SRK and Deepika pair comes back on the silver screen after the gap of almost six years. The pair was last seen in 'Om Shanti Om' (2007).

The story is about a man's travel from Mumbai to Rameswaram and what happens during the journey. This will be the first film where Shah Rukh Khan is working with Rohit Shetty.

Bhansali avoids collision with Chennai Express

To avoid a repeat of the infamous 2007 box-office clash with SRK, the filmmaker has sought a safer release date for Ram Leela

Bhansali, who has burnt his fingers with box office clashes, seems to be playing safe this time around. His next Ram Leela starring Ranveer Singh andDeepika Padukone that was slated for a Dussehra release, is now being postponed, in order to avoid a head-on collision with Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express starring Shah Rukh Khan.

The filmmaker has decided his film will hit theatres not before November 29, couple of weeks after Krrish 3 releases. According to insiders, it is not as if Bhansali is not confident about Ram Leela. But, he is playing it safe — he doesn't want history to repeat itself. Readers may recall that in 2007, his ambitious film Saawariya that introduced bothRanbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, released on the same day as Farah Khan's Shah Rukh starrer Om Shanti Om, with the latter emerging a winner and Bhansali and SRK falling out with each other.

A source told TOI, "Bhansali and his team are very confident about Ram Leela. His lead pair Ranveer and Deepika has put in extra effort to ensure their performance is top notch. In fact, Ranveer has worked hard on his body while Deepika has undergone vigorous training in dancing. Sometime ago, Bhansali had even told his team to gear up for the big clash."

However, the scenario is different now. "Chennai Express is most likely to release during Dussehra in October. Though UTV and Shah Rukh have yet to finalise the date, Sanjay has gone ahead and decided November 29 as release date for the film. He doesn't want to repeat the same mistake that he made in 2007," said the source.

The 2013 is looking forward to many exciting filmy adventures on screen with several big projects lined up in this year.

Initially both were slated to release during the festival season of Dussera in October. However of late Bhansali said to have given a rethink about his film's release and has decided not to clash with the that of Rohit Shetty's film.

While Bhansali is quite confident of his project he is not willing to take a risk with a film that stars SRK and helmed by a blockbuster director.

It can be recalled that back in 2007 Bhansali's 'Sawaariya' and SRK-Deepika's 'Om Shanti Om' was released simultaneously on same day and the winner was naturally the latter one.

So according to sources the 'Ram Leela' filmmaker felt it would be better not to repeat history and to stay out of this race.

He now decided to postpone the film's release to November 29 - that is few weeks after the release of Hrithik Roshan's superhero project 'Krrish 3'.

Sources added that Bhansali and his team have worked really hard on 'Ram Leela'.

While Ranveer has worked on his physique, Deepika has given her best shot to perfect her dancing moves. So Bhansali doesn't want to go all those efforts in vain and decided to play it safe.

CHENNAI EXPRESS: SRK-Deepika sport Lungi with aplomb

Mehmood indeed would be mightily pleased to see the first promos of CHENNAI EXPRESS that have been released as it is the humble lungi, his favorite sartorial dress which he used to wear in one form or the other in the scores of films that he did when he became successful, has made a comeback with a vengeance.Shahrukh Khan had worn it in RA.ONE, but a Deepika Padukone sporting a lungiand fixing it up with a kamarband could indeed be one of the prominent fashion trends for 2013. 

Obviously sarongs are already there as a fashion statement, but a sarong is not an Indian attire, and who better than a Deepika Padukone to promote the humblelungi. Lungi manufacturers belong to the poorest strata of the society and have been struggling for quite a long time to sell their product to the youth of the present times, as for the youth now the basket of relaxing clothes majorly is comprised of shorts and T-shirts, and lungi is rarely to be seen anywhere. As a matter of fact such has been the preference for the shots, that even in the villages it has become the preferred garment of the youth. 

It indeed would be interesting if at the premier of CHENNAI EXPRESS, or during the promotional campaigns lead actors, and the director of the film sport lungi to promote it. The actress reveals that film's lead actor Shahrukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty came up with the idea to dress her in a 'lungi'. "That's something new and I hope it works," says Deepika about her look. "The idea to wear a 'lungi' is not mine actually. It was Shahrukh and Rohit who came up with it. We had to quickly do a photoshoot because we were losing the light. They were like 'Why don't we give her this 'lungi' and make her look modern'. The shirt that I am wearing in the posters also belongs to SRK, only the sunglasses are mine," the actress told PTI. The potboiler, which reunites Deepika with SRK onscreen after her debut in Om Shanti Om, is slated to release this year. Deepika, fresh from the success of Race 2, is looking forward to back-to-back releases this year. "It has been a good year but my next six months are very demanding in terms of my schedule. I hope all the hard work pays. I have Chennai Express, and Kochadaiyaan with Rajini (Rajinikanth) sir, which is also ready for release," says Deepika. She has two other films -Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, her film will Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela. There were reports that she may star in Salman Khan's Kick but the actress denies it. "That's all speculation. It probably stems from the fact that I had expressed a desire to work with Salman Khan. Maybe these stories are coming from there. There is nothing concrete on that film yet."
