In a straight shot to the top, Chennai Express is living up to its name and shows no signs of slowing down. The Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, that released on August 9 has managed to land on the Rs.216.86 crore .
Critic and analyst Taran Adarsh's latest tweet settled the case, "#ChennaiExpress [Week 3] Fri 2.12 cr, Sat 3.61 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.63 cr, Tue 1.74 cr, Wed 2.46 cr. Total: Rs.216.86 cr. Unstoppable!"
Owing to the success of Chennai Express, its female lead Deepika Padukone reportedly became the only Bollywood actress to touch the Rs.500 crore mark in one year.
Salman Khan who till now was ruling the Rs.100 crore club, had to abdicate his throne and make way for Shah Rukh Khan who has proven time and again, and this time too, that he's still the reigning king of Bollywood.
Chennai Express sits tight at number one; followed by Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots at number two; and Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger at number three and Dabangg 2 at number five.
